S1 Post Processing System for Automatic De-powdering and Cleaning

AM Solutions – 3D post-processing technology, a division of the surface technology specialist, Rösler group, has completely redesigned its S1 surface treatment system. This next-generation cost-efficient plug-and-play post-processing system is ideal for the automatic de-powdering and cleaning of small to medium-size work piece volumes. The new machine design makes it simple to switch from automatic to manual operation without time consuming re-tooling. It can be highly advantageous for the processing of somewhat larger single components. The operator has to unlock the rotary basket and move it to the rear of the blast cabinet.

The system integrates this swivel-mounted rotary basket for ergonomic loading/unloading and avoids contaminating the machine environment, swivel-mounted blast nozzles preventing re-contamination of treated parts and a design that complies with ATEX standards. Due to the relatively low noise emission of <=80 dB(A), when blasting with 3 bar and the airtight machine doors the S1 can be handled without protection gears.

The S1 is also distinguished by an antistatic polyurethane coating on the inside of the cabinet and rotary basket. This prevents color contamination of the work pieces. During blast operation, the special basket design ensures optimum distribution and mixing of the components. The S1 PLC enables several blast programmes to be stored with workpiece specific parameters, such as blast pressure and basket RPM, furthermore, it offers an acoustic or visual alert for deviations from the specified parameters.

The post-processing system also has an integrated media classification system, (cyclone and screen vibrator), apart from a control panel, PLC, dust collector and easily interchangeable media bin. The machine is equipped with two viewing windows (for automatic and manual blasting). An ‘air curtain’ prevents the blast media from hitting the windowpanes. The new S1 meets the highest standards for process safety and efficiency.
