Walter T2710 Thread Milling Cutter for Short Threads

Walter AG expanded the concept of its multiple-row thread milling cutters to short threads with the introduction of Thread Mill T2710, which is specially designed for thread depths up to 1.5 × DN. Parallel machining of several thread sections reduces the machining time enormously, even with short threads. It is further amplified by Walter WSM37S Tiger·tec Silver grade highly wear-resistant thread milling cutter inserts, which can be used universally.

Their geometry with chip breaker groove also ensures an easy cut and high operational smoothness, which enables high cutting speeds and feeds per tooth, while at the same time minimizing the radius corrections. The company offers thread milling cutter inserts with D61 geometry ‘with anti-vibration land’, for unfavourable circumstances.

In addition to the high productivity and low costs per thread, users benefit from high thread quality and process reliability with the thread milling cutter. As well as the operational smoothness and low deflection of the tool due to the easy-cutting geometry, the reason for this is the variable internal coolant.

It can be modified radially and axially for machining of blind or through holes, so that each chip is optimally flushed from the thread. The T2710 for threads with a nominal diameter from 20 mm can widely be applied for the use of steels, stainless steels, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, or even hardened steels up to 55 HRC.
