Solar Defence Bets INR 12,800 Crore on Deep Tech
Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd, India’s leading manufacturer of commercial explosives & blasting systems and ammunition, has announced plans to invest more than INR 12,800 crore in Deep-Tech. The projects will focus on robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), along with long-range missile systems, marking a significant push into advanced defence technologies. Its investment will aid the production of robots and drones.

BIEMH 2026 Opens Under ‘Carpe BIEMH’ Motto
BIEMH-International Machine Tool Biennial opened its 33rd edition with a formal ceremony presided over by Imanol Pradales, Lehendakari (President) of the Basque Government. The event was held at Bilbao Exhibition Centre, Spain. This year’s edition brought together 1,503 exhibiting companies from 34 countries and showcased more than 3,350 innovative products. The opening ceremony was graced by José Pérez Berdud, President, AFM Cluster.

FSID Powers India’s First Oil-Free Water-Injected Screw Compressor
Pravriddhi, the pan-India product accelerator led by Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) at IISc, Bengaluru, has announced the commercial launch of India’s first Oil-Free Water-Injected Screw Compressor (HYDRINO), developed and manufactured by Kirloskar Pneumatic. The technology has been developed indigenously by KPCL with grant support from the Ministry of Heavy Industries and technical mentorship under the Pravriddhi programme.

GE Aerospace Primes a Supplier Ecosystem in India
GE Aerospace was quick to recognize India’s manufacturing potential when it set up its Pune facility in 2015. Since then, the site has steadily evolved into a high-capability operation. In the past two years, GE Aerospace has committed US$ 44 million to its India-based facilities to introduce advanced manufacturing processes, expand automation, and strengthen the production of critical engine components.

Transitioning to Automation
Manual gauging processes were incapable of delivering the throughput necessary to achieve a high-volume part-manufacturing target at Olympus NDT. By automating inspection processes using a programmable shop floor gauging system by Renishaw, the company gained the manufacturing capacity it needed, improved part quality and reduced scrap. Olympus NDT is a world-leading manufacturer of non-destructive testing (NDT) instruments.
