Sandvik Coromant Appoints Albert Waloni as Digital Machining Sales Manager for SASEA Region

Sandviken, Sweden – Sandvik Coromant has appointed Albert Waloni as its digital machining sales manager for the sales area of South and East Asia (SASEA). His role as the current digital machining manager for Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) will expand further afield as customers in India and Japan seek more assistance in integrating digital services into their metal cutting activities.

The digital transformation market in the Asia Pacific (APAC) is expected to grow at the fastest rate of any region by 2025, with a growth rate of 20 percent. Waloni’s current role will be expanded to meet the needs of several APAC regions to support the adoption of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies. Waloni, who has been the digital machining manager for SEAO since January 2021, was the company’s first employee to hold this position. His mechanical engineering background, combined with his time at Sandvik Group’s Machining Solutions division, has prepared him to lead this rapidly expanding business area throughout Asia.

Stating that the company has progressed from providing metal cutting tools to now providing complete, integrated, digital solutions, Waloni commented, “We have seen how our knowledge in metal cutting can combine with digital technologies such as IIoT sensors, cloud computing, and digital planning software to help our customers maximize on productivity and efficiency.”

Citing that the company is developing some of the technologies on its own, but is also continually acquiring other technologies to build its portfolio, as digitalization accelerates across APAC, this is the ideal opportunity to position itself as an expert in digital machining solutions, he asserted, “I see that manufacturing companies are really considering digital technologies and strategies right now. This includes the IIoT, data-driven manufacturing, predictive manufacturing, and smart factories. To support this shift in focus, Sandvik Coromant solutions can be implemented in design and planning, tool preparation, during machining, and even in post-machining. One of our most popular solutions is the CoroPlus® Tool Guide, which we consider to be the encyclopedia of machining.”

Waloni further added, “Although the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies is already happening, there is a lot of room for digital machining to take part in digitalizing the APAC region. I’m honored to oversee such a vast, growing region as my role expands into new territories. I look forward to collaborating with our customers in India and Japan, educating them on the possibilities of digital machining solutions, and expanding our presence position in these countries.”
