igus’ QuickRobot Online Tool Makes Equipping Robots Easier

igus GmbH provides a free online tool for quick configuration of the individual energy chain system for 418 robots with the expanded QuickRobot. Product videos, for example, are new features that aid in the selection process. Highly flexible cables and hoses ensure that robotic applications receive energy, data, and media, and energy supply systems are required to keep them safe even when subjected to high dynamics and torsion.

These robots can weld, rivet, palletize, and assist. To be able to work fail-safe in 24/7 operation, small and large production require the proper energy supply system to safely route the cables and hoses from axis 1 to axis 6. The company has now expanded the capabilities of its robot equipment configurator to allow for the simple design of the individual energy chain for cobots, SCARA, 4-axis robots, and 6-axis robots. Users can use the online tool to choose their robot from 418 different models from 10 manufacturers and find the optimum energy supply for axes 1 to 6.

The path to the customer-specific energy chain is straightforward. Following the selection of the robot model, the user is presented with all compatible energy supply systems, such as the three-dimensional triflex R energy chains and retraction systems or the new SCARA cable solution. It includes videos of the individual products, demonstrating real-world applications and energy chain movements. The configuration is supported by a visualisation of the robot and an exploded view of the components. By clicking on the help buttons for the individual fields, the users can find more detailed information on the components. The customer has the option of selecting the best system for the robot. The price is determined in real time. The parts list is generated automatically and can be downloaded or added directly to the shopping cart. As a supplementary service, the tool provides CAD data for individual components, a PDF report, and assembly videos for the components. Furthermore, the configuration can be easily saved for team coordination or future projects.
