Panasonic Life Solutions India’s First Industry 4.0 Standard ECM Manufacturing Facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh

Thane, India – Panasonic Life Solutions India Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation, recently inaugurated a one-of-a-kind Industry 4.0 standard ECM (Electric Construction Material) manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The facility was built to support the country’s growing infrastructure needs, with the goal of strengthening the company’s presence in the Southern Region and developing market synergies by delivering materials quickly and delighting customers. In the next five years, the factory hopes to produce more than 200 million switches per year. The ‘highly automated’ unit spans 1,33,584 sq mt and currently has a floor area of 37,025 sq mt. This will be the company’s first electrical equipment manufacturing base in Southern India and its seventh in India, with additional facilities in the North and West regions to follow.

The company will invest a total of INR 600 crore in two phases, with the first phase costing INR 300 crore. The aim of this facility is to support infrastructure development, job creation, and industrial development in Andhra Pradesh. It will help the company achieve its larger goal of increasing capacity expansion in India and carbon neutrality by 2030 in order to deliver on the promise of a carbon-neutral future.

This facility is fully operational and will primarily manufacture Wiring Devices products covering Roma, Penta Modular, and Roma Urban. Furthermore, the company intends to add other products from the Wiring Devices category, such as Switchgear, Wires, and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) products, over time. Currently, the first-year production capacity is 80 million units, and it is expected to increase by 15 percent year on year as sales grow.

Moreover, the new facility will benefit the local communities by creating direct and indirect employment opportunities by developing a local supplier network exclusively for Wiring Devices products by FY2025. Furthermore, in line with the visions of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the company seeks to support inclusive growth and contribute to the country’s development.
