Telangana is Home to India’s Largest Private Rail Coach Manufacturing

Kondakal, Telangana – India’s largest private rail coach factory was inaugurated at Kondakal village, Rangareddy district (near Hyderabad), recently by K Chandrsekhar Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana.

Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd, a Telangana-based company that designs and manufactures complex electrical and electronic railway goods, constructed the facility. The plant, which spans 100 acres, will produce various forms of railway rolling stock, including coaches, train sets, locomotives, metro trains, and monorails. The first phase cost around INR 400 crore, while the whole project cost is estimated to be INR 805 crore. 558 people have already been employed, with a further 500 benefiting indirectly, and an additional 1,000 will be employed in the near future.

The facility’s whole coach manufacturing for the Monorail project is scheduled for the end of this year, with the second and third stages of the project. Medha intends to manufacture Railway products not just for India but for the entire world. Medha is also now manufacturing bogies for the Indian Railways and will shortly begin manufacturing complete Mumbai Monorail train sets. It has also signed a joint venture (JV) deal for a new rail coach manufacturing factory in Telangana with Swiss railway rolling stock manufacturer Stadler Rail, headquartered in Bussnang, Switzerland. The proposed Telangana Unit will be used by the JV to service tenders from the Indian market as well as exports from customers throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
