AIMHE Elects José Ignacio Ortiz de Urbina as President for the Next Two Years

Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain – AIMHE’s (Asociación de Importadores de Máquina-Herramienta—a Spanish Association of machine tool importers and AFM Cluster) General Shareholder’s Meeting held at the BEC (Bilbao, Spain) witnessed the associated companies re-electing José Ignacio Ortiz de Urbina to continue his duties as President for the next two years. The day’s agenda started off with the election of the President and the members of the Board of Directors, as follows: José Ignacio Ortiz de Urbina from INTERMAHER as President, Gerard Guitart as Vice President, on behalf of HAAS, Eduard Farran, representing EMUGE-FRANKEN, Albert Sellas, representing MAQCENTER, Leonardo Marques, on behalf of RENISHAW, and Alfredo Martín from GÜHRING.

Urbina, CEO, Intermaher, was elected President of AIMHE in March 2022. The meeting’s agenda also included a review of the initiatives undertaken during the previous year and the approval of the management plan for 2024 and the corresponding accounts. An assessment of the market situation in 2023 was also addressed, concluding that it was reasonably satisfactory for importers, despite all the uncertainties that arose. The results were better at the beginning of the year than at the end, setting the stage for the national market to face 2024, which has maintained a certain degree of vigor despite signs of slowing down.

To conclude the event, Oscar Torres, Founder and Director of the pioneer B2B Management program for senior executives provided by ESADE Executive Education, presented a lecture on B2B culture as a competitive tool. He shared ideas about how to generate a competitive advantage through company culture, as well as the key factors guiding the growth strategy of a B2B organization and generating better results.

The numerous attendees of the meeting held at the BEC also enjoyed a lively cocktail and networking session at the end of the day. Set up as a nationwide non-profit association in 2009, AIMHE’s mission is to represent and advocate for the interests of the machine tool import and distribution sector in Spain. The Association currently consists of 56 member companies. In the month of May last year, AIMHE became one of the 7 associations that make up AFM Cluster, an organization that represents the largest industrial ecosystem in the country, consisting of 800 companies with a turnover exceeding € 4 billion and a direct workforce of more than 20,000 people.
