Chennai, India – Royal Enfield Motors Ltd, the iconic Indian motorcycle manufacturer and a subsidiary of Eicher Motors, an Indian automaker, has announced plans to invest more than INR 2,200 crore to establish a new manufacturing plant in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
The project is the first major manufacturing expansion of the company outside Tamil Nadu, where the company is headquartered and has its manufacturing plants. The new plant will be built in two stages: Phase 1 will be finished by 2029, Phase 2 by 2032.
The plant, once operational, is expected to bring the company’s annual capacity to about 900,000 units, bringing the total to around 1.46 million units at the end of February. The project will also create almost 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, contributing to the industrial as well as employment development of the region.
Over the years, Andhra Pradesh has become a preferred destination for investments, attracting major companies in technology, infrastructure, and manufacturing.
