Dassault Systèmes Solutions Used by-National Aerospace Laboratories to Design Civil Aircraft

Bangalore, India – Dassault Systèmes recently announced that National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), a constituent of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has adopted the “Passenger Experience” industry solution experience based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to design civil aircraft in India, specifically the Saras Mk-2 program. DraftSight, a feature-rich 2D and 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) solution, is also used by NAL for 2D design standardization in civil aircraft manufacturing.

The “Passenger Experience” industry solution experience assists in reducing engineering costs in-cabin completion by up to 40 percent through engineering, manufacturing, and certification processes automation. It also contributes to increased brand perception and a 40 percent reduction in content creation for all passenger touchpoints for sales and marketing. “Passenger Experience” integrates emotion and automation across engineering, manufacturing, and certification processes, allowing completion centers to profitably deliver personalized cabin interiors. The DraftSight solution combines essential 2D drafting, advanced 2D CAD, or all-in-one 2D & 3D design with full 3D modeling, prototyping, manufacturing, and laser cutting capabilities.

NAL has expanded its usage of Dassault Systèmes technology solutions by adopting the “Passenger Experience” industry solution experience and by replacing existing 2D CAD tools with DraftSight. It has been using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to support its overall mission and mandate of developing aerospace technologies with strong science content, designing and building small and medium-sized civil aircraft, and supporting the nation’s regional connectivity plan such as UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik).

Saras Mk-2 will be a 19-seater aircraft with features such as high cruise speed, low fuel consumption, short landing and take-off distances, low cabin noise, pressurized cabins, and low acquisition and maintenance costs. It will be able to operate from high and hot airfields, as well as semi-prepared airfields.
