X-Head Quick-Change Milling Head System

Pune, India and Fagersta, Sweden – Seco has launched its new X-Head quick-change replaceable milling head system to provide manufacturers with versatility and high value. Users can quickly and easily switch between various solid-carbide milling geometries and types with the system, allowing them to optimize milling operations while lowering manufacturing costs and tooling inventories.

Milling heads can be mounted to a variety of shank lengths for even more versatility, with short and long-reach capability for a variety of overhang lengths. Head changes are as simple as turning a wrench, eliminating the need to remove the cutter holder from the machine. Users can also avoid having to reset tool lengths because the connection is secure and reliable, with exchange accuracies of less than 50 microns.

With 194 different types of cutting heads available, users can select different cutters for multiple operations as well as specific high-performance, versatile high-performance, and universal type geometries. Seco also provides metric and inch products for heads and shanks.

Stating that shops must frequently purchase a variety of endmills and holders to machine different features on a workpiece, which increases project costs, Gary Meyers, Product Manager, Solid Milling, Seco Tools, said, “The Seco X-Head quick-change replaceable milling head system adapts to various machining needs with a range of geometries and types but without additional holders.”
