Mumbai, India – Godrej & Boyce Mfg Co Ltd, the Godrej Group’s flagship company, announced that its business, Godrej Tooling, supplied dies to international automobile manufacturer Toyota for its new Innova Hycross. Godrej Tooling aims to strengthen its partnership with global automobile manufacturers in support of their indigenous manufacturing initiatives as technology advances across industries and the ‘Make-In-India’ push. At Toyota’s Bangalore facility, the company manufactured and supplied dies for the Innova Hycross’ Dash panel and Main floor.

Godrej Tooling has increased its R&D investment in a portfolio of tools and dies with a special focus on the EV industry by 10 percent year-on-year. Since 2002, it has had a long-standing partnership with Toyota. The first Toyota Qualis localization plan for door inners and a front valance in 2002 marked the start of the two leading conglomerates’ collaborative journey. Later, in 2005, the company supplied a few reinforcement and structural parts for Toyota’s Old Innova, including the A-Pillar, Front Cowl, and B-Pillar Inner.

Godrej Tooling has successfully met Toyota’s stringent quality requirements and delivered high-quality components by supplying dies for the new Innova Hycross’ Dash panel and Main floor. Furthermore, the industry’s rapid shift toward the adoption of hybrid and electric vehicles in India has necessitated the development of new engines, battery boxes, and high-precision sheet metal parts, all of which necessitate the development of new dies.

Pankaj Abhyankar, Senior Vice President and Business Head, Godrej Tooling, commented, “With the launch of the new Innova Hycross project, we are delighted to continue our long-term partnership with Toyota. Any automobile’s manufacture and assembly rely heavily on components, and Toyota is cognizant of this. Godrej Tooling has been successful in efficiently producing dies to make parts that are at par with Toyota’s high global standards.”

He further added, “We are optimistic about the future of our association and are eager to support Toyota in its upcoming endeavours. The focus on quality and continuous improvement has enabled us to become a key player in the design and manufacture of components.”
