Mitsubishi Electric Introduces Innovative CNCs for Smart Manufacturing Revolution in India

Mitsubishi Electric, in its resolve to bring development and better opportunities for the country, recently launched the all-new M800V and M80V series of Computerized Numerical Controllers (CNCs) with state-of-the-art solutions to revolutionize smart manufacturing in India. The adoption and integration of IoT and Artificial Intelligence in manufacturing is driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Keeping this in mind, the company has used innovative technologies in the new product range to bring the era of smart and advanced manufacturing in the country.

Computerized Numerical Controllers (CNCs) are electro-mechanic devices which use computer programming for the Machine Tool industry. These CNC machines are widely used for the manufacturing processes and are bringing a positive impact to the industry. The company has always strived to bring innovation and technological advancement in the country through its state-of-the-art CNC solutions. Keeping in mind the era of remote access and control post the pandemic, the new M800V and M80V features the industry’s first CNC with built-in wireless LAN that allows you to work efficiently without any constraints of time and space.

The control functions in M800V and M80V have been designed in such a way that the machine can do various ‘things’ at high speed and with high accuracy. Features and advantages which make the new M800V & M80V an innovative invention include:

  1. Increased fine segment processing capability and increased number of control axes: Improved hardware, that is, a dedicated CPU optimized for the new M800V and M80V, significantly improves the fine segment processing capability. High machining program processing capability translates to a shorter cycle time. When compared to the conventional CNC series of products, the number of some control axes have been increased in the new M800V and M80V, which enables smooth controlling of more complex mechanisms.
  2. Cutting Load Control: ‘Cutting Load Control’ automatically controls the cutting load, leading to longer tool life and a shorter cycle time.
  3. Multi-touch operation and Improved Screen Design: Enhanced technology in the new M800V and M80V series enables the multi-touch feature for smarter operations and high accuracy. Keeping in mind the importance of clear visibility of information content on the screen, this new CNC product range comes with screen design and colors that are optimized for readability and ensure better visibility, which leads to increased work efficiency.
  4. OMR-CC (Optimum machine response-contour control): In this era of automation and rapid processing, the all-new M800V and M80V series comes with Optimum Machine Response-Contour Control (OMR-CC), which efficiently reduces the cycle time while maintaining machining accuracy. This enables the machining process to work faster and saves time due to control processing, which automatically corrects programmed/actual position errors.
  5. Two-dimensional barcode engraving cycle: Advancement and automation is the key to progress in manufacturing. The two-dimensional barcode engraved directly on the workpiece allows automatic selection of programs and tools, which helps to implement easy traceability of workpieces.
  6. Built-in wireless LAN: Our industry’s first wireless LAN functionality is introduced with the invention of the M800V and M80V series. This enables machine engineers to operate remotely with a tablet connected. It allows improved work efficiency for the machine tool operators, frees them from the constraints of time and space, and also enables them to work remotely.
  7. The M800V and M80V product ranges come with an operation monitoring software ‘NC Machine Tool Optimizer’, which visualizes the status of various equipment in multiple factories. Besides connecting with a variety of controllers (maker, model) on the shop floor, it can monitor and analyze the operation of equipment in multiple factories, helping to increase productivity. Machine downtime is reduced by automatic email notifications sent upon the occurrence of an alarm and alarm diagnostics, in addition to the built-in remote service gateway unit functionality in the NC control unit.

The M800V and M80V product ranges have been developed keeping in mind the requirements of sustainability in the country. In line with the company’s environmental sustainability vision 2050 and its stance on addressing long-term environmental issues and creating new value for a sustainable future for the country. The 2050 sustainability vision identifies environmental protection as a top corporate priority and stipulates increased initiatives towards the same. The manufacturing industry contributes more than 19 percent to the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. Green machine tools minimize energy use, eliminate waste, and reduce environmental pollution, which is much needed to achieve a more sustainable industrial environment.

Following are the functions which make this all-new product a sustainable product:

  • Feedrate is automatically adjusted so that the actual load rate matches the predefined target load rate during machining. The parameters appropriate for the tool and workpiece can be selected from eight parameter groups.
  • The Power consumption circulation feature in this product range enables prior visualization of power consumption in each process, which ultimately helps to optimize power consumption in the factories.
  • PWM converter MDS-EX-CVP series controls the boost and stabilization of DC link voltage, for increased output and shorter acceleration and deceleration times. Reduced supply current harmonics improved power factor help to lower power supply equipment capacity.

In the last 20 years, machine tools have become faster, more precise, and more capable, helping to increase the productivity of the manufacturing process.
