Gurugram, India – NOVELIC, a subsidiary of Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd (Sona Comstar) and a leading provider of mmWave radar and perception solutions for the automotive industry, has been awarded the ‘In-Cabin Innovation of the Year’ at the prestigious ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle International Awards 2025, which was held in Stuttgart, Germany.
The award recognizes NOVELIC’s Automotive In-Cabin Monitoring (ACAM) solution, a 60GHz millimeter-wave radar-based sensor system that enables intelligent, contactless monitoring of vehicle interiors. Developed entirely in-house, ACAM ensures full interior coverage and supports critical safety applications such as child presence detection (CPD), a feature that is poised to become a mandatory requirement under Euro NCAP’s updated safety protocols from 2026.
The ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle International awards (#AAVIs) are organized by ADAS & Autonomous Vehicle International, known for their eponymous industry publication, and seek to “recognize groundbreaking achievements that are driving safer, smarter, and more sustainable mobility solutions,” at a “critical juncture for the automotive industry.” The In-Cabin Innovation of the Year nominees included SmartEye’s Sheila, AVS’s Scaner Human Factors, and NOVELIC’s ACAM. The winner was decided by AAVI’s panel of judges and the magazine’s readership. Dr Raffaele Soloperto, Vice President, Automotive Radar, NOVELIC, accepted the award in the name of the NOVELIC team.
“This is a culmination of years of effort in research and development we’ve done in this field—and the prize today is not for me, but for all my colleagues who have contributed to what we’re doing. We’re fully committed to short-range radar and radar as a solution for in-cabin monitoring, which will finally save children’s lives. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!” said Dr Soloperto in his acceptance speech.
ACAM, NOVELIC’s 60 GHz radar in-cabin monitoring module, is a compact solution for EuroNCAP-compliant child presence detection, offering industry-leading performance with a power-efficient design. One module covers the entire cabin of a five-seater vehicle, enabling accurate seat occupancy detection, cabin intrusion, and proximity alerts. This solution is set to enter mass production in 2026.
