Stuttgart, Germany – AMB 2026, the international exhibition for metalworking, was officially opened today by Roland Bleinroth, President, Messe Stuttgart; Dr Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism for Baden-Württemberg; and Kati Wilhelm, three-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion in biathlon. Taking place for the 22nd time, the international metalworking industry is meeting at the grounds of Messe Stuttgart until September 19. ‘Where metal comes alive’ is the message welcoming visitors who are coming from the entire process chain of the metal cutting industry.
Messe Stuttgart President Bleinroth emphasized that “AMB 2026 is set to demonstrate just how firmly the international metalworking industry stands by Stuttgart. With 1,195 exhibitors from 34 countries and all ten trade fair halls filled to capacity, the trade fair is combining regional commitment with international reach. We are delighted to have the opportunity, over the course of five trade fair days, to showcase practical solutions, explore future perspectives, and provide a platform for establishing new connections and partnerships.”
Location with Tradition: Baden-Württemberg as Hub of Metalworking Industry
Stuttgart has been home to AMB for more than 40 years – right at the heart of Baden-Württemberg, one of the leading European regions for mechanical engineering.
Dr Hoffmeister-Kraut stated, “Baden-Württemberg is already the leading European region for the machine tool and precision tool industry. We are perfectly set up here to maintain our position as a lead provider. The event has also introduced a ‘Defence & Security Opportunities’ format for the first time this year, providing a platform for this growing area. Another new highlight is the cooperation with our state agency Baden-Württemberg International. AMB 2026 is playing host to an excellent forum right at the heart of Europe. As a leading trade fair, it serves as a marketplace for the metalworking industry and is an ideal venue for discovering the latest trends in the field of production technology.”
Precision Combines Metal Cutting and High-performance Sport
AMB is the leading trade fair for the metalworking industry – however the importance of the solutions and innovative ideas shown here go far beyond the reaches of the field. Precision-made components form the basis for the high performances achieved in so many areas of everyday life, sport included.
Wilhelm emphasized this when she spoke at the opening: “I know from my time as a professional athlete, after a demanding round on the cross-country ski slopes, those few seconds at the shooting stage can decide whether a race will be won or lost. Every move, made under pressure, needs to be spot on – and for this you need to be calm and in possession of a rifle you can rely on. This reliability is guaranteed by components that have been processed with metalworking machines providing millimeter precision. And what applies to sport, also applies to corporate life: when under pressure, what counts are reliable processes and precision. AMB is able to demonstrate what stays in the background at the shooting range: the material basis for high performance.”
