Japan, Tokyo: The 8th edition of Metal Forming Fair Tokyo, MF-Tokyo 2025, organized by Japan Forming Machinery Association (JFMA) and The Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, at Tokyo Big Sight, from July 16 – 19, 2025, served as an ideal platform for Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) to host the ‘India Opportunities’ seminar.
The session, held on July 17, 2025, aimed to strengthen Indo-Japanese collaboration in advanced manufacturing and spotlight India’s flagship metal forming event – IMTEX FORMING 2026.
Building a Manufacturing Superpower
Themed ‘Building a Manufacturing Superpower: India’s Machine Tool Market Set to Double by 2035’, the seminar emphasized India’s rise as a strategic hub for metal forming technologies and encouraged Japanese firms to invest in India.
Senior representatives from IMTMA, including Rajesh Sarkar, Senior Director, IMTMA, and Mahesh MK, Joint Director, IMTMA, shared insights on growth opportunities in India’s metal forming sector and extended a warm invitation to Japanese companies to participate in IMTEX FORMING 2026.
Shusaku Ikuta, Executive Managing Director, JFMA, delivered the opening remarks, reinforcing the long-standing ties between Japan and India in the manufacturing domain.
The session featured a compelling success story from Yuki Kita, President & CEO, FANUC India, highlighting the benefits of operating in the Indian market. Shigemaro Yasui, CEO, Japan India Business Bureau NPO, stressed the importance of Preliminary Research and Consulting for Entry into India.
Spotlight on IMTEX Forming 2026
During the session, IMTMA also presented an overview of IMTEX FORMING 2026, Asia’s leading exhibition on metal forming and manufacturing technologies. Scheduled to be held from January 21 – 25, 2026, at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru, India, the show will feature cutting-edge innovations across sectors like automotive, aerospace, infrastructure, and more.
Co-located events such as WELDEXPO 2026, Tooltech 2026, and Digital Manufacturing will provide additional platforms for exhibitors and visitors to explore advancements in welding, tooling, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
