Bengaluru, India – Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under Ministry of Defence, Government of India (GoI), has secured additional contracts amounting to INR 572 crore, aiding in the country’s push for self-reliant defence manufacturing. It builds on its recent INR 2,210 crore deal with the Ministry of Defence to supply electronic warfare suites for Mi-17 V5 helicopters. The new orders consist of advanced drone detection systems, AI-driven naval assets, military-grade communication and jamming devices, as well as software-defined radios. These illustrate BEL’s increasing capacity to aid India’s armed forces by supporting homegrown modern technologies and strengthening the nation’s defence infrastructure.
Regarding the recent contracts, BEL in a regulatory filing stated that this reflects great attention given to indigenous defence solutions. The company also attributed the ongoing improvements in sophisticated systems to government initiatives like Atmanirbhar Bharat. The market also responded with strong bullish sentiment. BEL stocks reached a 52-week high of INR 371 on May 16 and closed at INR 363.90 on the same day, which is a 4 percent increase. This demonstrates continued growth, with the stock climbing over 23 percent in less than a month, and 46 percent in a year, outperforming industry peers.
Further, BEL noted strong Q4 financial year 2023–2024 results, with 30 percent growth in net profit to INR 1,797 crore and a 32 percent increase in revenue at INR 8,564 crore. The order book reached an all-time high at INR 76,000 crore. India’s defence sector is set to rise with growing global demand for reliable defence partners. The country is well on its way to becoming a global hub for defence innovation and exports, with BEL leading the charge.
