Tuttlingen, Germany – More than 1,200 visitors, manufacturing solutions of every dimension in live-cutting operation, and an intensive exchange on solution scenarios surrounded by machining centers: ‘Where Automation meets Machining Excellence’ was the motto of the OPEN HOUSE 2026. The CHIRON Group demonstrated at this year’s show how precise machining and intelligent automation can be combined to create efficient, application-oriented complete systems.
From April 21-23, the headquarters in Tuttlingen was once again a meeting place for trade visitors from a wide range of industries. The CHIRON Group demonstrated that the OPEN HOUSE is a special event in the trade fair calendar: together with 36 partner companies, the CHIRON Group presented technologies, promoting direct exchange and opening up concrete perspectives for practice.
All subject areas—Automation, Medical & Precision, Service Excellence, and Exclusive Outlet—were structured by color. In this way, the visitors were able to obtain specific information in the areas relevant to them.
Where Automation Meets Machining Excellence
The focus of the OPEN HOUSE was on the interaction of machining excellence and intelligent automation. Highly productive combinations showed in live operation on current industry-typical workpieces how more productivity, flexibility, and autonomy can be achieved in production.

The new Variocell SYSTEM with Gantry Bot in the Automation Area, for example, showed what this interaction looks like. At the FZ 19 S mill turn, the portal automation demonstrated its strengths when handling a workpiece, a casting of a rotary table, for mechanical engineering: loading from above, freely accessible work area, and greater reach than a classic industrial robot. The solution unfolds its full potential in scaled applications—for example, when loading and unloading several machining centers, even different ones.
Three new variants for automated micromachining with the Micro5 XL were also presented: Variocell PICK&PLACE, Variocell PALLET, and Variocell UNO. They cover a wide range of automation tasks—from linear loading and unloading of raw and finished parts to the handling of pallets to robot handling of workpieces and additional process steps.
The MT 715 two+ impressively demonstrated how sophisticated components can be produced efficiently on one machine in live operation. The all-rounder with integrated tool storage for up to 176 tools produced a ring with a wall thickness of only 1.5 mm and an eccentric holding device from a cylinder weighing 50 kg. The superalloy used is extremely resistant and tough and requires a precisely coordinated machining strategy of milling and turning for short, process-reliable chips. A challenge that the MT 715 two+ masters confidently and efficiently with its outstanding performance and robustness.
All Partners at One Spot – All In the Process

One of a total of 36 quality partners whose products and innovations are
an integral part of the successful OPEN HOUSE concept.
A central component of the event in the direction of holistic manufacturing concepts was the partner exhibition: The 36 companies presented their specific expertise in many cases in the real production process or in the environment of machining centers and automation solutions. The spectrum ranged from tools as well as clamping and measuring technology to automation, digital applications, and CAM strategies.
In the other thematic areas of the OPEN HOUSE 2026, the experts of the CHIRON Group provided information on how processes can be further optimized, machines can be operated in the long term, and existing systems can be modernized economically.
“The clear conclusion after three intensive days: OPEN HOUSE 2026 was a complete success. We not only showed technologies but also discussed concrete solutions together with our customers and developed perspectives for their production,” says Matthias Rapp, Vice President Global Marketing, CHIRON Group. “The direct exchange in the environment of running machines makes the difference—this is where approaches are created that can be directly transferred into practice.”
Save the Date: OPEN HOUSE 2027
The CHIRON Group will continue the successful format next year – as a compact platform for exchange, innovation, and impulses for optimized manufacturing. The exact date will follow.
