Pune, India – Electro Pneumatics and Hydraulics India Pvt Ltd (EPHL) has achieved a significant milestone by securing an INR 385 crore contract for manufacturing 70 sets of Trawl Assembly for T-72/ T-90 Tanks from Ministry of Defence (MoD). The order is expected to boost self-reliance in armored operations, reinforcing indigenous defence manufacturing under ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives.
The contract signing ceremony took place in the presence of Rajesh Kumar Singh, Defence Secretary of India, marking a moment of strategic importance. Dinesh Kumar, Joint Secretary & Acquisition Member (MS & LS) & CVO, Ministry of Defence, Govt of India and EPHL’s Managing Directors, Ashley Rasquinha and Ingrid Rasquinha, formally signed the agreement on April 21, 2026.

The indigenous Trawl and Plough System is designed to breach both passive and active mine fields and create safe lanes for battle tanks in combat zones. It consists of a set of heavy trawl rollers, a track width mine plough and electro magnetic devices. The trawl & plough is made of armored steel (high nitrogen steel), fabricated and machined for the first time in India. The company stated that it is proud to be part of this ‘Made in India’ import-substitute program for the Indian Army.
This development is a result of successful collaboration between R&DE (DRDO) and EPHL over the past decade. Successful NC-NC user blast trials have been completed across diverse terrains showcasing operational reliability. The prototype has also undergone comprehensive evaluations and trials conducted in collaboration with the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) and the Maintainability Advisory Group (MAG).
This contract further reinforces EPHL’s position as a trusted partner in India’s defence manufacturing landscape, contributing to the nation’s vision of self-reliance and technological advancement in critical defence systems.
