Supporting Communities and Businesses During COVID-19

Pune, India – Emrah Titiz, President, Sales, Sandvik Coromant India, discusses the initiatives Sandvik Coromant is taking to support both its customers and the wider community. This includes customer service through virtual training, seminars, and webinars, as well as many CSR initiatives such as donations to local hospitals and businesses. “The COVID-19 pandemic, particularly the second wave in India, has affected us all deeply. As we do our best to keep our families, colleagues, customers, and community safe, we are reminded of the importance of staying together. On behalf of Sandvik Coromant, I want you to know that our thoughts are with you all,” said Titiz.

The company, like many others, continues to experience the effects of limitations and partial lockdowns. While it is impossible to make precise profit estimates, the firm anticipates the upward trend seen in the first quarter of 2021 to continue in the third and fourth quarters of the same year. “There will be opportunities for growth, however, the way we realize these opportunities may differ to pre-pandemic days. The use of digital tools and platforms are now part of our daily routines and are key to facilitating contact with our customers and partners,” commented Titiz.

Sandvik Coromant has presented several digital training sessions this year, including many customer webinars, with Webinar Gallery as its knowledge repository. The company intends to continue hosting these virtual sessions to provide metal cutting and tool knowledge when physical presence is not possible, ultimately, making it easier to do business with the company than ever before. Hence, in addition to virtual training, the company is offering online sales meetings, product demonstrations, and customer support. “Usually, our Sandvik Coromant Center in Pune is a hub for metal cutting expertise, live demonstrations, and customer events. It is a place that brings our people and customers together, to give them a true Sandvik Coromant experience. To continue bringing this unique offer to our people, we’ve initiated several live demonstrations that showcase our products, technology, and industry insight,” explained Titiz.

The company has supported hospitals and vaccination centers throughout the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation in collaboration with the Confederation of Industry in India (CII). It supplied medical equipment such as oxygen cylinders, ventilators, ICU beds, saline stands, ECG machines, ECG trollies, and a variety of other urgently needed items. “After SAMPARC, the non-profit organization supporting orphanages across India, had to suspend its operations due to the pandemic, we stepped in to provide necessities to children in need,” added Titiz.

“As we navigate these challenging times, with the hope that better days will soon arrive, Sandvik Coromant will continue to support its entire community,” said  Titiz.
