Mitsubishi Materials Expands VPX 200/300 Series

Mitsubishi Materials has expanded the VPX200 & 300 range of tangential, indexable insert milling cutters to include new long edge types. To include deeper shoulder and pocket machining, these long edge styles extend the application area and complement the recently introduced sharp geometry L-breaker inserts for the VPX200 type. The multi-functionality of VPX series, which has the ability to be used over an extremely wide range of milling functions, was a key factor in the original design parameters, together with the knowledge that today’s machinists require both high performance and optimum usability to reduce cutting tool inventories.

The tangential double-sided inserts provide the essential element of economy. Additionally, when using the standard-length cutters, the convex curved, precision cutting edge produces highly accurate vertical wall surfaces with a maximum cusp height of just 8 μm between each machining mark.

With 8 different types of Insert grades, including the latest MP6100, MP7100, and MP9100 series of grades are offered to cover machining of materials from carbon, stainless and hardened steels through to cast iron and difficult-to-cut materials. The VPX 200 and larger 300 series cutters are available in 2 different sizes to accommodate both large and smaller machines, as well as having 09 and 12 size inserts respectively. Both series are available in shank, screw-in and arbor types, ranging from Ø16 - Ø80. The new long edge versions are available in the smaller VPX200 range as a shell type from Ø32~Ø50, a standard shank type from Ø20~Ø40 and in a Weldon shank type from Ø20~Ø32. Also new in the larger VPX300 range are shell types from Ø40~Ø80, and as a standard shank type in Ø40.
