IMTEX FORMING 2026 is set to play a key role in strengthening collaboration between Taiwan and India in advanced forming technologies and automation. According to Tommy Hsu, President, Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), the exhibition provides an important platform for technology exchange, market engagement, and long-term partnerships at a time when global manufacturing is navigating economic and geopolitical uncertainty.
Given the unstable global political and economic climate, Taiwan’s machinery industry is actively seeking to deepen its presence in new markets, particularly India. Hsu notes that IMTEX FORMING 2026 offers a timely opportunity for Taiwanese and Indian companies to build stronger collaboration in advanced forming technologies and automation.
“Through participation in IMTEX FORMING 2026, Taiwanese manufacturers can enhance their connection with Indian customers, engage with local system integrators, and gain deeper insights into India’s evolving manufacturing needs, including smart manufacturing and automated forming solutions,” he says. He believes these interactions will foster technology exchange, joint development opportunities, and long-term partnerships that support industrial upgrading in both countries.
Advancing Smart and Sustainable Manufacturing
Sharing an overview of Taiwan’s metal forming and sheet-metal technology sector, Hsu explains that the industry is rapidly advancing AI-driven smart manufacturing, technology integration, and carbon reduction initiatives.
“Taiwan’s sector integrates automation, robotics, and data management systems across design and processing workflows, achieving highly intelligent manufacturing processes,” he observes. Sustainability, he adds, is a major focus area, with widespread adoption of energy-saving and green technologies to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. This combination of artificial intelligence, precision engineering, and sustainable solutions enables Taiwanese companies to deliver high-value products globally, while supporting smart and low-carbon manufacturing upgrades in emerging markets such as India.
Strong Taiwanese Presence at IMTEX FORMING 2026
Highlighting Taiwan’s participation at IMTEX FORMING 2026, Hsu shares that 10 Taiwanese companies are exhibiting in the Taiwan Pavilion at Hall 5. These include PMI, ROYAL, TE-SHIN, HANN KUEN, JING DUANN, SANES, CHIU TA, R.F.H., LIANYI, and VICSTARS.
In addition, companies such as HIWIN, INGYU, TALIFT, CHIN FONG, and SEYI are participating through their local branches or authorized agencies. “Each company has its own plans and goals for the Indian market, and we warmly welcome visitors to their booths for further communication,” he says, adding that many exhibitors are exploring partnerships, distributor networks, and co-innovation opportunities in India.

Design-Driven, Future-Ready Forming Solutions
Speaking about Taiwan’s strengths, Hsu points out that Taiwanese companies are widely recognized for their design-driven engineering and ability to deliver highly customized forming solutions. “This flexibility allows Indian manufacturers to adopt equipment that matches their specific production needs, improving efficiency and productivity,” he explains.
He adds that an emphasis on stability and reliability, combined with automation and smart control systems, helps maintain consistent product quality, reduce downtime, and support sustainable scaling of production.
Trade Trends and Long-Term Impact
On trade trends, Hsu notes that India is currently Taiwan’s third-largest export destination. In 2025, Taiwan’s machine tool exports to India stood at US$ 145 million, while imports from India amounted to US$ 0.12 million.
“Taiwan’s machinery industry can provide excellent customized services and integration capabilities in energy-saving, carbon reduction, and smart manufacturing, which can offer the greatest support to India’s metal forming industry over the next decade,” he concludes.
