DEP Offers MeshWorks for Aerospace Sector

Michigan, USA – An engineering solutions and product development company, Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) has developed MeshWorks (MW), a unique platform to assist in virtual validation and optimizing workflows. This is powered by an integrated CAE platform designed to cater to the increase in the volume of simulation work, particularly in the aerospace industry, as at the concept stage the cost of making design changes is minimal. With its morphing and parameterization leadership, and early-stage optimization, MW enables aerospace industries to do a lot of work in the early concept stages of design.

It also enables companies to carry out multiple activities across the concept, verification and validation, and detailed design stage thanks to its pre-processing tools and optimization capabilities. MW can be extremely helpful even in the verification and validation process, where almost all geometric interiors and exteriors are fixed, and the structural performance still needs to be improved.

“In the aerospace industry, the priority of aircraft designers should be safety. We have made technological advancements; however, it is crucial to ensure safety and precision during the early stages of aircraft design. With the help of virtual validation, companies can test designs before investing in prototypes, and make sure the products are safe and reliable beforehand. This will ultimately help in saving human lives from catastrophic accidents,” explained Karthik Shankaran, Chief Innovation Officer, Detroit Engineered Products, on the usefulness of the virtual validation process, which provides engineers and product designers a comprehensive 3D visualization of a part or product in CAD and CAE.
