SMEC, a leading global manufacturer of machine tools, will once again be exhibiting this year at AMB in Stuttgart, Germany’s leading trade fair for metalworking. From September 15–19, 2026, the company will be showcasing its latest machines at Stand 10E51 in Hall 10. The focus will be on how individual machining steps can be integrated into fully interconnected production lines.
Every two years, the AMB trade fair in Stuttgart provides a platform for new technologies in the metalworking sector. For SMEC, following SIMTOS 2026 in South Korea, this marks the second stop in an international trade fair year that will continue in September with the IMTS in the USA. The South Korean company, which has its European headquarters in Germany, is taking its presence at the event beyond a mere product showcase. On site, SMEC will show visitors what the journey from individual precision machines to automated and digitally networked manufacturing can look like, and how it supports its customers along the way.
A key component of this roadmap is SMEC’s in-house automation solutions. With the LAM series, the company offers modular robot systems for automatic loading and unloading, which are available as indexing table, drawer, or turn table variants depending on the application. When combined with solutions for automatic pallet handling, such as the SPH 250 automatic pallet changer for vertical 5-axis machining centers, highly productive manufacturing cells can be set up.

“SMEC sees itself as more than just an equipment supplier. Our aim is to support our customers as partners in their digital transformation and to modernize their production facilities step by step with smart manufacturing solutions,” says Jaeyong Jeong, Managing Director, SMEC Europe GmbH.
Two Machines, One Shared Ambition
The exhibition focuses on two models from the latest series, in which SMEC has concentrated its technological expertise. At the stand, the NS 1600T2Y2 CNC lathe, which is designed for precision and short machining times, demonstrates how it supports efficient processes for small- and medium-sized components in a variety of production environments. For visitors looking at applications with particularly tight tolerances, the MVF series completes the picture: With high vibration damping and controlled thermal deformation, this high-precision machining center provides a stable foundation for networked manufacturing cells and smart factory concepts.
